NET/MASTER Management Services (MS) System Management Guide
Phase 2: Start NonStop NET/MASTER MS
Starting NonStop NET/MASTER MS
115414 NonStop NET/MASTER MS System Management Guide 2–9
If you want to determine that all NonStop NET/MASTER MS processes have
successfully started, issue the following command:
PPD
When the NCP has started all other NonStop NET/MASTER MS processes in
basic mode, the following processes appear in the display from the PPD
command:
$USER ZNNM 22> PPD
Name Primary Backup Ancestor
…
$ZNNM 0,141 1,123 $TC21
…
$ZG00 0,157 1,133 $ZNNM
…
$ZNN0 0,111 1,148 $ZNNM
…
$Z000 1,108 $ZNNM
…
During NonStop NET/MASTER MS startup, the NCP sends event messages to the
$0 collector process, which logs them in the system log, to indicate both a
successful startup and an unsuccessful startup attempt. You can use the Event
Management Service (EMS) EMSDIST distributor program, perhaps from another
terminal, to look at the system log to examine these event messages. Specify a
starting time near the time of the successful startup.
For example, if you successfully start NonStop NET/MASTER MS at 9:00 a.m., the
following example ensures that you obtain event messages by specifying 8:50 a.m.:
EMSDIST TYPE P, COLL $0, TEXTOUT $OSP, TIME 8:50
Refer to the EMS Manual for more information about the EMSDIST distributor
program.
7. To log on to NonStop NET/MASTER MS, use the NNM program. Issue the
following command from the home terminal specified in Step 5:
NNM
Note Entering NNM is the same as entering NNM $ZNNM.
If you specified $OSP as the home terminal, and $OSP is in PAUSE mode, you can
log on from a terminal other than the home terminal.
The NNM program displays the NonStop NET/MASTER MS logon screen on
your terminal. In this context, the NNM program also begins to process your
attempt to log on to NonStop NET/MASTER MS. After you start the program, a
series of NNM1555 LOGON PROCEEDING messages appear on the home
terminal during the system startup. (For additional information about the
LOGON PROCEEDING message and other messages, refer to the NonStop
NET/MASTER Messages Manual.)
