Information in NonStop NET/MASTER MS Manuals
Refer to the NonStop NET/MASTER Messages Manual to obtain information on
NonStop NET/MASTER MS and other messages issued during an unsuccessful
startup attempt. Other NonStop NET/MASTER MS manuals, which may contain
helpful information, are listed in “About This Manual.”
Phase 3: Add a
Security Administrator
User ID Definition
Record
In this phase, you add a user ID definition record for the security administrator. A
new NonStop NET/MASTER MS system’s database of defined users contains a
temporary user ID definition record, named INSTALL. The INSTALL user ID is
temporary: you can log on with it only once. For security reasons, NonStop
NET/MASTER MS deletes the INSTALL user ID definition record when you exit the
session with which the INSTALL user ID is used.
When logged on with the INSTALL user ID, you have access only to the features with
which user ID definition records and utility definitions are managed. Therefore, you
must add a user ID definition record that is capable of adding additional user ID
definition records.
Note If you log on using the INSTALL user ID and exit before creating another user ID definition record, you
must perform the operations described in “Reinstalling NonStop NET/MASTER MS,” later in this section.
The steps required to define a security administrator user ID definition record can be
grouped into these tasks:
Task 1: Create a user ID definition record for the security administrator.
Task 2: Grant the security administrator’s user ID access to Utility Maintenance
Services.
You need perform these tasks only once: after you start a NonStop NET/MASTER MS
system for the first time. The file that contains user ID definition records is not
overwritten by successive installations, new releases, or other updates.
Note Throughout this subsection you are asked to perform tasks that this guide discusses in more depth in
Section 4, “Managing User Access and Privileges.” The present objective is to create a user ID with
which you can explore and perform the tasks described in the remainder of this manual.
