New and Changed Information

The operating system for Tandem NonStop systems, formerly called the Guardian
operating system, is now called the Tandem NonStop Kernel. This change reflects
Tandem's current and future operating system enhancements that further enable open
systems and application portability.
The Sterling Software services to which NonStop NET/MASTER MS connects,
formerly the product called NET/MASTER, is now referred to as the SOLVE
management services.
References to the NCL Automation Rule Set (NARS) have been removed from the
manual.
The titles of all NonStop NET/MASTER MS manuals and reference summaries, except
the NonStop NET/MASTER Messages Manual, have changed. (The name of this manual
was formerly the NonStop NET/MASTER Network Control Language (NCL) Reference
Manual.) Cross-references have been changed to reflect the changed titles.
All sections have minor changes. The following sections have major changes:
Notation Conventions
The notation conventions information has been expanded.
Section 2 Core Statements
Table 2-3 has been updated to include two panel condition names.
Section 3 Verbs
This section has structural changes, new verbs, and changed verbs, as follows:
Structural Changes
Repeated operands such as ARGS, PARSE, RANGE, SEGMENT and VARS, and
variables such as input-vars-list and output-vars-list, have been consolidated throughout
this section, by defining them in the introductory material at the beginning of the
section.
Where possible, syntax boxes have been made more concise.
New Verbs
The EVENTTD verb is new.
Changed Verbs
The following verbs have been changed:
ASSIGN OPT—The SETOUT and RESETOUT operands are new.
CONTROL—Some of the considerations for this verb are described under the
particular operand to which they refer. In particular, for the operands FINDRC
and NOFINDRC, reference is made to the default search path for NCL procedures.
The NORNGLIM operand has been changed.
