Note If you are creating the ruleset specifically for time-based rules, only the parameters in the RMS : Control
Options Definition—Run Parms panel have relevance. Leave the other parameters as they are.

F7 and F8 to page through the RMS : Control Options Definition panels
To go from an RMS : Control Options Definition panel to the RMS : Profile
Definition panel, you file the control options first and then the RMS : Profile
Definition panel appears. Work your way through the five panels, filling in the
required fields. (See the following subsections for a detailed description of the
fields.) You can, if you want to, leave the fields as they are and define them later.
(See “Modifying the Control Options of a Ruleset” and “Adding or Modifying the
Environmental Profile Associated With a Ruleset” in Section 6.)
5. Leave the initial value D in the Activation fields on the RMS : Control Options
Definition—Statistics panel (for control options) and the RMS : Profile Definition
panel (for profile requirements).
Note The value in an Activation field tells RMS how to file a definition to the database. The values are as
follows:
D—saves the definition to the database.
I—saves the definition to the database and makes the definition available to existing message
handlers that use the ruleset.
N—makes the definition available to existing message handlers that use the ruleset, but does not
save the definition.
The values I and N allow you to dynamically modify the characteristics of the message handlers.
6. When finished filling in the fields, use F3 to file the ruleset definition. After you
finish with the profile requirements, the RMS : Ruleset Maintenance panel
reappears, and a message confirms the creation of the new ruleset.
Note If you have no specific profile requirements for the ruleset, press F12 from the RMS : Profile Definition
panel to cancel. RMS will not create a profile record for the ruleset.
To make ruleset management easier, you should always add a brief comment to
describe a new ruleset as described in “Maintaining Comments” in Section 6. As you
