Creating and Developing Rulesets and Rules

RMS selects the rule that contains the ranking elements of the highest priorities.
Typically, if a ranking element makes a rule more restrictive, the element has a higher
priority. For example, if you specify SELECT and use the default ranking, then RMS
selects the first of the following two triggered rules if the two rules rank equally in
terms of UDP, MRE, DAY, and TME:
UDP MRE DID PRC DAY TME SCN NRD ALM
Rule 1 X X X X X
Rule 2 X X X X X X
However, if the second rule is only valid for three days while the first rule is valid for
seven days (making the second rule more restrictive), then RMS selects the second rule
instead.

RMS provides a narrative feature that, when an event triggers a ruleset feature, tells
you what happens (if you enable the ruleset feature) or what should happen (if you
disable the ruleset feature). For example, if a rule requests to change the color of the
message to green, the following message appears if narration is selected:
RMS1104 *** COLOR=G
You can include narration when you enable or disable a ruleset feature. Narration is
especially useful when you are testing the ruleset.
