Specify values in all the fields on the RMS : Control Options Definition—Run Parms
panel. The values can be any of the following:
Value Description
N Do not perform the action.
Y Perform the action.
S Do not perform the action but send a message describing what would have been done.
B Perform the action and send a message describing what has been done.
The initial values are S, except that of the Default Propagation field (which is Y) and
the Process Solicited Msgs field (which is N).
You can enable or disable the following ruleset features:
Rule-controlled message delivery—A triggered rule can instruct RMS to suppress
a message. The Message Suppression field controls whether RMS actually
suppresses the message.
Rule actions—When a rule in the ruleset is triggered, the rule may instruct RMS to
perform certain actions. The following fields control whether RMS actually
performs the actions:
Field Description
Message Modification Determines whether RMS actually modifies the message attributes if
requested by a triggered rule.
Message Replacement Determines whether RMS actually replaces a message or displays a
help panel if requested by a triggered rule.
System Command Determines whether RMS issues the NonStop NET/MASTER MS
commands PROGRUN and OPSYS if requested by a triggered rule.

Determines whether RMS issues a NonStop NET/MASTER MS
command (excluding PROGRUN and OPSYS) if requested by a
triggered rule.
Start NCL Procedure Determines whether RMS starts an NCL procedure if requested by a
triggered rule.
Exec Command Group Determines whether RMS issues a group of NonStop NET/MASTER
MS commands using a command group if requested by a triggered
rule.
Activate Timer Determines whether RMS loads a time-based rule if requested by a
triggered rule.
Action Message Group Determines whether RMS services a triggered message group rule.
Set Defined Variables Determines whether RMS sets the values of variables if requested by
a triggered rule.
Default propagation—If a message does not trigger a rule, the message delivery is
controlled by a user exit NCL procedure (if specified) and the specified delivery
philosophy (both specified on the RMS : Control Options Definition—Suppression
panel). The Default Propagation field controls whether the message is actually
delivered according to the delivery philosophy. If you specify N or S in the
