Specifying the Criteria That
Trigger the Message Action
Rule
The seven types of criteria that determine if a message may trigger the message action
rule are as follows:
Message recognition elements (you must specify at least one element)
Source of the message
Time of message arrival
User-defined criteria
User-defined rule trigger priority
State (frozen or not frozen) of the message subject
Message text elements
Using the Message Recognition Elements
The three message recognition elements are as follows (page 1 of the message action
rule definition panels):
Message ID that you specify in the Message ID field
Subsystem ID that you specify in the SS ID field
Message profile variable that you specify in the MDO Element Name and Value
fields

MESSAGE RECOGNITION ELEMENTS
----------------------------
Message ID ........
SS ID .............
MDO Element
Name
Value
Specify at least one of the elements. How you specify the elements determines the
primary trigger as follows:
If you specify one element, then this is the primary trigger.
If you specify more than one element, then the primary trigger is selected
according to the hierarchy message ID, subsystem ID, and message profile
variable. For example, if you specify all three elements, the message ID becomes
the primary trigger.
You cannot change the primary trigger at a later time once you have filed your rule
definition.
