Adding a Message Action Rule
Creating and Developing Rulesets and Rules
5–24 115415 NonStop NET/MASTER RMS Management and Operations Guide
Use a variable to allow the domain ID criterion to change dynamically (for example,
you can set the value of the variable by using another rule).
If you specify an asterisk (*) in the Domain ID field, the rule is triggered by messages
from all domains. Also, if you leave the field blank, the rule is only triggered by
messages from the current NonStop NET/MASTER MS system.
Specifying the Process Name. Use the Guardian process name as a criterion by specifying
a value in the Process Name field (for example, \HERST.$Z100). The field accepts up
to 32 characters. Use the backslash (\) character to indicate the name of the system.
Use the wild-card characters, question mark (?) and asterisk (*), to match multiple
processes. RMS checks each component of the process name (separated by periods)
for wild-card characters. Use the asterisk (*) as the process name to match all named
and unnamed processes; use $* as the process name to match all named processes
only. Use a variable to allow the process name criterion to change dynamically (for
example, you can set the value of the variable by using another rule).
If you do not specify the name of the system, only the process on the local system can
match the criterion. For example, you specify the asterisk (*) in the Process Name field
if you want the rule to be valid only for the processes on your local system.
If the Process Name field is left blank, all messages from the local system that do not
contain a process name will trigger the rule.
Using the Message Arrival Time
You can restrict the messages that can trigger the rule by specifying the arrival time
(page 2 of the message action rule definition panels). You can set the time of arrival to
a time range on a particular day of the week. If you do not want to place any
restrictions, use the following default values:
045
SDPL---------------------- RMS : Message Validation ----------------Page 2 of 6
Command ===>
On Days Time Ranges
--------------------------------- ------------------------------------
MON TUE WED THU FRI SAT SUN Range1: between Time1 ....
00:00:00
Y Y Y Y Y Y Y and Time2 .... 23:59:59
Range2: between Time3 ....
and Time4 ....
Specifying the Day of the Week. Use the day of the week as a criterion by filling in the
following On Days fields that represent Monday through Sunday: MON, TUE, WED,
THU, FRI, SAT, and SUN. You must specify Y in at least one of the On Days fields.
The values can be one of the following:
Y if you want a message arriving on the day to trigger the rule. This is the default.
