Who Should Read This
Manual
This manual is intended for experienced users of NonStop NET/MASTER MS and
Tandem systems who need to install and control access to NonStop NET/MASTER
RMS, or to develop rules to facilitate the operation of Tandem systems.
Accordingly, you should be familiar with the Tandem NonStop Kernel operating
system, NonStop NET/MASTER MS, and NonStop NET/MASTER Network Control
Language (NCL) before reading this manual. To obtain information on these topics,
refer to the publications listed in “Where to Go for More Information,” later in this
section.
How This Manual Is
Organized
This manual contains 12 sections and 3 appendixes as follows:
Section 1, “Introduction to RMS,” provides an overview of NonStop
NET/MASTER RMS features and functions.
Section 2, “Message Handlers, Timers, Rulesets, and Rules” describes in more
detail the RMS message handlers, timers, rulesets, and rules.
Section 3, “Planning for, Installing, and Managing RMS,” describes how to plan
for, install, and manage the product; and how to control user access to the product
through a security exit NCL procedure and the NonStop NET/MASTER MS user
ID definitions.
Section 4, “Getting Started,” provides you with the basic information to navigate
through and within the RMS panels. A sample session guides you through the
creation of a simple ruleset. You then use the ruleset and see it working. The
section also provides guidelines on how to implement a message handler.
