6. Press F3 to file the modified definition as a new rule. A message confirms the
addition of the new rule.
7. Change the comments to describe the new rule, as described in “Maintaining
Comments,” later in this section.
Copying Rules You can copy rules:
Into a selected ruleset from another ruleset
From a selected ruleset into an existing ruleset
From a number of rulesets into an existing ruleset
Figure 6-2 shows the panels you encounter when copying rules.
Copying Rules Into a
Selected Ruleset
Use the COPY command to copy rules into a selected ruleset. The ruleset must
already contain at least one rule of the type you want to copy. Proceed as follows:
1. At any => prompt, type =R.6 and press ENTER to access Rule Maintenance. The
RMS : Rule Maintenance panel appears.
a. Specify the name of the ruleset into which to copy rules in the Ruleset field. If
you wish to be prompted by a selection list panel, ensure that the field is
blank.
b. Select the appropriate option to access the rules (for example, option 1 for
message action rules). If a selection list panel appears, select the appropriate
ruleset by typing an S next to the name of the ruleset and pressing ENTER.
The selected rules maintenance panel appears (for example, RMS : Message
Action Rules Maintenance panel).
2. Select option 2 to access Display/Modify/Delete/Add With Model (you can leave
the Selection Key field as it is). A rule selection list panel appears.
3. At the Command prompt, type COPY and press ENTER. The RMS : Select Ruleset
panel appears.
4. Type an S next to the name of the ruleset from which to copy rules and press
ENTER. A rule selection list panel appears. The title of the panel identifies the
rulesets involved in the copy operation.
5. Type an S next to the names of the rules to copy. Press ENTER to start copying the
rules. A rule is flagged as **COPIED** if the operation is successful. If a rule
already exists, RMS does not copy the rule.
6. Update the ruleset comments, as described in “Maintaining Comments,” later in
this section.
