options of the ruleset.

Adding or Modifying
the Environmental
Profile Associated
With a Ruleset
You can add or modify the environmental profile requirements associated with a
ruleset (effective only if you use the ruleset with a message handler that you start as a
MSGPROC, or as an INT-type in the current or a background environment). You can
thus ensure that whenever you use the ruleset, the profile of the environment the
ruleset is servicing matches the requirements of the ruleset. Depending on how you
file the changes, you can have the changes reflected immediately in the message
handler. Figure 6-7 shows the panels encountered when defining or modifying the
environmental profile requirements.
Note The message handler cannot effect the change of a profile parameter if the user (that has control of the
message handler) has no authority to change the profile parameter (as specified in the user ID definition).
For example, if the ruleset profile allows the receipt of EMS messages, but the user has no authority to
receive EMS messages, no EMS messages arrive at the message handler.
Add or modify the environmental profile associated with a ruleset as follows:
1. At any => prompt, type =R.6 and press ENTER to access Rule Maintenance. The
RMS : Rule Maintenance panel appears.
a. Specify the name of the ruleset in the Ruleset field. If you wish to be
prompted by a selection list panel, either ensure that the field is blank or
specify ALL in the field.
b. Select option 5 to access Ruleset Profile Maintenance. If a selection list panel
appears, select the appropriate ruleset by typing an S next to the name of the
ruleset and pressing ENTER. The RMS : Profile Definition panel appears.
Note If you specify ALL in the Ruleset field, you can select more than one ruleset to work on when you are
prompted by the selection list panel. However, the list only contains rulesets that already have a profile
record. When you have finished with one ruleset, the environmental profile associated with the next
ruleset appears.
