If you want to save the profile but do not want to make the profile available to
existing message handlers that use the ruleset, leave the initial value
D (deferred) in the Activation field.
If you want to save the profile and make the profile available to existing
message handlers that use the ruleset, specify I (immediate).
If you want the profile to be temporary (that is, make the profile available to
existing message handlers that use the ruleset only, but do not save the
profile), specify N (no save).
4. Use F3 to file the changed profile. The RMS : Rule Maintenance panel reappears,
and a message appears confirming the modification of the environmental profile
associated with the ruleset.
5. Add or update the comments on the profile record, as described in “Maintaining
Comments,” later in this section. You may also want to update the comments on
the ruleset itself.
Adding or Modifying
the Function Key
Settings Associated
With a Ruleset
RMS allows you to associate a function key settings record with a ruleset. The settings
are effective when you use the ruleset with a MSGPROC message handler. You can
thus customize the function key settings in an OCS window as you start the
MSGPROC message handler for that window.
The function key settings record contains information for the Tandem 6530, IBM 3270,
and compatible terminals. If you associate a function key settings record with a
ruleset, the initial settings are set by the RMS initialization procedure ZRMSININ as
follows:
