Testing a Ruleset Against
Real Messages
You can use the RMS panel interface to test a ruleset against the messages that flow in
your OCS environment and to capture the processed messages. RMS starts an
INT-type message handler that uses the ruleset under test to process the messages.
Figure 8-2 shows the panels encountered when testing a ruleset.

Test a ruleset as follows:
1. Ensure that the message flow in your OCS environment resembles the flow in the
environment in which the ruleset will be used. Factors that affect the message
flow in your OCS environment are as follows:
The OCS details in your user ID definition—are you authorized to receive
EMS and monitor-class messages?
Your OCS environmental profile—the settings of EMS, MONMSG,
MSGCODE, and UNSOL.
