RMS constructs the message by appending the text of the message to the value you
specify in the Message ID field under MESSAGE COMPONENTS. If you specify a
value in the Message ID field, this value becomes the message ID. If you leave the
Message ID field blank, the first word of the message text becomes the message ID.
Copying Messages Into a Selected Message Set
You use the COPY command to copy messages from another message set into your
message set as follows:
1. At the command prompt on the RMS : Captured Message Set Edit panel, type
COPY and press ENTER. The RMS : Select Message Set panel appears.
2. Type an S next to the name of the message set to copy messages from and press
ENTER. A message selection list panel appears.
3. Type an S next to the messages on the panel to copy and press ENTER to start
copying the messages. A message is flagged as **COPIED** if the operation is
successful. If a message already exists, RMS does not copy the message.
Copying Messages From a Selected Message Set
You use the CP action code to copy messages from your message set to another
message set as follows:
1. On the RMS : Captured Message Set Edit panel, type CP next to the messages to
copy and press ENTER. An inset appears prompting for the name of the message
set to copy to:
a. Specify the name of the message set in the MSGSET NAME field.
b. Specify N (NO, do not replace if the message already exists) or Y (YES, replace
if the message already exists) in the REPLACE field. The default is N.
2. Press ENTER to start copying the messages. A message is flagged as **COPIED**
if the operation is successful.
Deleting Messages From a Message Set
You use the D action code to delete messages from your message set as follows:
1. On the RMS : Captured Message Set Edit panel, type a D next to the messages to
delete and press ENTER. A message appears prompting you to confirm the
deletion of the messages.
Note If you change you mind and want to cancel the deleting operation, press F12 and do not perform Step 2.
2. Press ENTER to start deleting the messages. A message is flagged as
**DELETED** if the operation is successful.
