Functional Description
Introduction to RMS
1–4 115415 NonStop NET/MASTER RMS Management and Operations Guide
Control your message handlers and timers.
Capture statistics on your message handler so that you can analyze how well the
handler is handling the message flow.
Creating and Maintaining
Rulesets
The RMS panel interface allows you to create and maintain rulesets and rules as
follows:
Create new rulesets. You must create a ruleset before you can implement any
rules.
Create a new ruleset by copying another ruleset and modifying the copy. If you
want to create a ruleset that is slightly different from an existing ruleset, you can
save development time by using this method.
Merge two rulesets together.
Add rules to rulesets.
Add a new rule by using another rule in the ruleset as a model and modifying the
copy. If you want to create a rule that is slightly different from an existing rule,
you can save development time by using this method.
Copy rules into a ruleset, from a ruleset, or from a number of rulesets. You save
development time by not having to redefine a rule that you want to add to a
ruleset.
Modify existing rulesets and rules.
Delete rulesets and rules to keep your RMS database orderly and to make space in
the database.
Transfer rulesets and the records of rulesets from one RMS database to another.
Attach comments to the records in a ruleset. Using comments to describe the
records makes ruleset management easier.
Print a detailed report on selected records of a ruleset (for example, the details of a
particular rule) or a listing of the members of a certain type of rule. You can list
rules that satisfy certain criteria, allowing you to identify rules with similar
characteristics.
Allocate a default ruleset to a user. If you started a message handler in an
environment without specifying a ruleset, the handler uses the default ruleset of
the user that owns the environment. You should allocate a default ruleset to the
owner of an environment if you intend to start a message handler in that
environment using the NonStop NET/MASTER MS SYSPARMS (for EMSPROC
and LOGPROC) or PROFILE (for MSGPROC) command.
