Rule Contents Variables Rule contents variables are of the form &$RMS* (see Table 11-1). The variables contain
the value of certain rule definition elements: for example, the value specified for the
Deliver field on page 4 of the message action rule definition panels. When a message
action rule or a message group rule is triggered, RMS sets the value of these variables
with the contents of the triggered rule. Message action rules and message group rules
keep their own set of rule contents variables. You can use the message validation exit
NCL procedure and the rule action exit NCL procedure to change the values of these
variables, thus dynamically changing the characteristics of the triggered rule. RMS
resets the variables when the processing of the triggered rule is finished.
