Informational Messages

Characteristics of informational messages:

Allow nld to complete normally

•

Are issued if the flag -verbose on page 3-16 is specified

•

Are suppressed if the flag -noverbose on page 3-10 is specified

For -verbose and -noverbose defaults, see Table 10-2 on page 10-1.

Note. In this subsection, informational messages are as they appear on Guardian and OSS

platforms; that is, they begin with this string:

On a PC, error messages begin with this string:

NLD: INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE **** [number]

**** INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE **** [20000]:

The -old_elf_format flag will soon go away.

**** INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE **** [20001]:

The amount of space actually required by the non-resident

text segment during the cache optimization was number bytes.

**** INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE **** [20002]:

The input object file named 'filename' has broken the rules

that should be followed so that NLD has more freedom to

rearrange data. This message has been printed in response to

the -show_internal_reloc flag.

**** INFORMATIONAL MESSAGE **** [20003]:

The '-yflag' symbol named 'name' has an external declaration

in the input object file named 'filename'.
