3 Installing NonStop Cluster Essentials
This section describes the process for installing the NonStop Cluster Essentials package, which
includes HP SIM plug-in components, standalone applications, and both NonStop and Linux server
components. The steps are:

Installing the Client Components
This section describes how to install the NonStop Cluster Essentials client components on a Windows
console or Linux CMS that meets the “Console Requirements (page 9).
In the event that no one console can meet all requirements for example, your NonStop system
consoles lack the Ethernet connectivity required for HP SIM or your CMSs lack the maintenance
LAN connectivity required for down system support you can use a multiple-console configuration.

During the installation, if Setup determines that the Cluster Configuration Database schema is not
compatible with the version of NonStop Cluster Essentials on your system, it will notify you that
changes are required and give you the option to continue with the schema changes or cancel to
exit the installation, as follows:
