NonStop Cluster Performance Essentials User's Guide, Version 2.2

4.3.2. Initial Setup
PE SIM plug-in collects performance data from all live, configured Linux and NonStop
servers once per minute. It analyzes the data and determines if any alert is to be
triggered. If so, the user is notified according to the notification criteria. By default,
40 intervals of historical data are retained in the database. The actual number of
intervals of historical data is divided by the greatest amount of systems that you
have Linux or NonStop agents running on. For instance, if you have 3 systems
running Linux Agents and 2 systems running NonStop Agents, then the actual
number of intervals of historical data will be the 40 intervals divided by 3 by default.
This value is configurable; refer to Configuration Options
 for more details.

4.3.3. Performance Task Scheduler
Performance Essentials SIM plug-in creates its own performance task scheduler to
collect performance data from the NonStop and Linux agents. In order for the
scheduler to work, the user must use the NonStop Cluster Configuration
Management application to configure a cluster with NonStop and/or Linux servers
that have agents running on them. Because the scheduler is dependent on the
discovery of the cluster, the user must now discover the servers either manually or
through SIM’s automatic discovery and configure the servers WBEM/WMI System
Protocol Settings Credentials. A successful discovery of the systems will yield
“NonStop OS“ or “LINUX” under the OS Name column of the SIM Systems Table. If
the discovery yields “HP NSK” under the OS Name column, then the configurations
for HP NonStop Cluster Essentials need to be revisited and most likely modified.
Note: SIM v5.3 has a different discovery procedure than SIM v5.2. Manual discovery
for SIM v5.3 can be done via Options Discovery and clicking on “New”. The
user may choose to discover a single system or multiple systems by providing the IP
or DNS name or list of IP’s in the specified field. The discovery should be given a
name and the “Automatically execute discovery every..” should be unchecked. After
that, the system credentials must be provided by clicking on “Credentials” and
providing the Sign-in System Credentials for the system. The WBEM credentials also
should be provided at this time via the “Show advanced protocol credentials link”. By
