Messages
Cause. The tape media or tape drive failed. An EIO instruction was issued and the
TERMSTAT returned indicates that the tape write operation was retried. The
TERMSTAT values are:
Effect. If the retry is successful, the write operation finishes.
Recovery. Check the tape media or tape drive. If this event occurs frequently, replace
the tape being used, because it is probably of marginal quality.
If this event occurs frequently on several different tapes, this error could indicate a
problem with the tape drive or controller. If the error continues to occur, see Recovery
Action Requiring Vendor Support on page 10-15.
