Potentially Critical or Noncritical Event Designation
Potentially Critical or Noncritical Event Designation
The value of the token ZEMS-TKN-EMPHASIS indicates whether an event is
potentially critical or noncritical:
Action Events
Action events result when a subsystem determines that a situation cannot be resolved
without operator intervention (for example, a tape needs to be mounted).
Action event messages occur in pairs:
Other Tokens
Other tokens in operating system component event messages are described in each
section of this manual.
Value of
ZEMS-TKN-EMPHASIS Meaning Example
ZSPI-VAL-TRUE Potentially critical event.
Without intervention,
continued processing
can have serious
consequences that can
disrupt normal
processing.
The disk process message ZDSK-
EVT-BAD-MIRROR-VOLS reports
inconsistent primary and mirror disk
volumes. This error usually requires
immediate attention, including the
initiation of recovery procedures.
ZSPI-VAL-FALSE Noncritical event.
Might interest someone
but does not disrupt
normal processing.
The disk process message ZDSK-
EVT-IO-RETRY reports that a disk
I/O operation is being retried. This
event does not disrupt normal
processing and no action is
immediately required—however, it
can indicate that a serious problem
might occur in the future.
