Unconditional Tokens
Cause. An EIO instruction was issued, and the TERMSTAT returned indicates that the
operation failed. Depending on the drive status value, this event message can indicate
a problem with the drive, formatter, controller, or channel. The TERMSTAT values are:
The probable cause is ID-burst noise in the record. If a tape read operation failed, the
problem might be caused by the tape drive that wrote the tape.
Effect. The tape operation aborts.
Recovery. If the error continues to occur, see Recovery Action Requiring Vendor
Support on page 10-15.
