Unconditional Tokens
Cause. An EIO instruction was issued, and the TERMSTAT returned has a value
greater than 39, which is not defined by any other events. This event message can
indicate a problem with the drive, formatter, controller, or channel.
Effect. The tape operation aborts.
Recovery. If the software is up-to-date, it must recognize all TERMSTAT values
returned by the different controllers. Look for a hardware problem in the controller,
controller microcode, or channel. If the error continues to occur, see Recovery Action
Requiring Vendor Support on page 10-15.
