Unconditional Tokens
Cause. The RIC word from an I/O operation on a 3202 controller has the data parity
error flag set. A read, write, or write-file-mark operation that receives this error is retried
up to 40 times. The controller sets this flag when it detects a vertical or longitudinal
parity error during a read or during the readback check of a write operation.
This event indicates a problem with the drive or the tape media.
Effect. The operation aborts.
Recovery. If the error continues to occur, see Recovery Action Requiring Vendor
Support on page 10-15.
