Cause. The disk process issued an elementary command, one of the following
exception errors occurred:

Controller
Device interface
Drive
ECC
Effect. Retries on this path have failed. Other paths are tried if they are available. The
drive goes down if no other paths are available and the error is not a media failure.
Recovery. Check for a hardware problem in the drive, controller, or channel.
5020: ZDSK-EVT-EXCEPT-ERR-EXT
An exception error occurred on a disk during a disk process extended command.
Token Description
ZEMS-TKN-EVENTNUMBER Event number for this message. Value is ZDSK-EVT-
EXCEPT-ERR-ELEM (5019).
ZEMS-TKN-LDEV Subject token that specifies the logical device number of
the affected disk drive.
ZDSK-TKN-EXCEPT-ERR Exception error encountered (see Table 11-20
).
ZDSK-TKN-LACCMD Elementary controller command issued by the disk process.
