About This Guide
This guide describes how to perform routine system hardware operations for NonStop
S-series servers. This guide describes information for NonStop S-series servers on
G06.24 and subsequent G-series release version updates.
Use this guide along with the Guardian User’s Guide and the written policies and
procedures of your company regarding:

Who Should Use This Guide
This guide is written for operators who perform system hardware operations. It
provides an overview of the routine tasks of monitoring the system and guides the
operator through the infrequent tasks of starting and stopping the system and
performing online recovery on the system.
Note. S-series refers to the hardware that makes up the server. G-series refers to the
software that runs on the server.
The term NonStop Sxx000 represents the NonStop S70000, NonStop S72000, NonStop
S74000, NonStop S76000, and NonStop S86000 servers.
The term NonStop S7x00 represents the NonStop S7400 and higher numbered servers. Thus
it does not include the NonStop S7000, which is usually designated separately.
