NonStop Software Essentials User's Guide

The Host Maintenance Interface (ZPHIHMI) manages the archive and the host database. You can
perform these tasks only from the ZPHIHMI (and not from the ZPHITMI):
Maintain configuration manager profiles
Maintain planner security
Register a physical target system
Manage software package checkout
Manage the archive
The Target Maintenance Interface (ZPHITMI) is used to manage the target database for the logical
target on the target system. You can perform operator security maintenance only from the ZPHITMI
(and not from the ZPHIHMI).
Entering the Maintenance Interface
To begin a Maintenance Interface session on either the host or a target system:
1. Check that DSM/SCM is already started. See “Starting DSM/SCM” (page 39).
2. Check that you are in the ZDSMSCM volume:
> VOLUME $vol.ZDSMSCM
where vol is the volume containing the DSM/SCM TSV.
NOTE: If you are using multiple logical targets on a system, always run DSM/SCM from
the first ZDSMSCM subvolume installed on the target system, from which INITENV was run,
to ensure that the correct installation files are used. You can also run STOPSCM from the same
ZDSMSCM subvolume if DSM/SCM has finished processing all of its tasks.
3. At a TACL prompt, enter one of:
To run the host system Maintenance InterfaceZPHIHMI
To run the target system Maintenance InterfaceZPHITMI
DSM/SCM displays the Maintenance Interface Logon screen. See Figure 2-3 (page 30).
