5. Check that DSM/SCM is not running:
> RUN STOPSCM
For more information, refer to “Starting and Stopping DSM/SCM” (page 38).
6. Run INITENV and select the change option:
> RUN INITENV
Use Table 4-1 (page 52) as a quick guide to configure a host or physical target system. The
right column provides common entries. For this procedure, make sure that you select C when
INITENV asks if you are initializing or changing the system.
Table 4-1 Changing Default Settings Checklist
EnterQuestion
Y or NWould you like to read the introduction?___
CAre you changing or initializing the system?___
Y or NIs this the name and number you want for this system?___
• If the displayed system name and number are correct, no change is necessary.
• If the displayed system name and number are not correct, break out of
INITENV (CTRL-Y), and see “Changing the System Name and Number”
(page 50).
Host or TargetHost or physical target system?___
Y or NWant to change host system for this target system?
This is displayed only if the system is a target system.
___
\host-nameWhat is the host system name for this target system?
This is displayed only if the system is a target system.
___
dsmscm-user-idDSM/SCM user ID. The default DSM/SCM user ID is the super ID (255,255).___
$ZHOMEHometerm for use by DSM/SCM Pathway servers and other processes. The
default is $ZHOME, a virtual terminal that always runs in the paused state. This
___
prevents DSM/SCM from stopping even if the system console is not in the paused
state. If you do not use $ZHOME, you must use a terminal that can be paused
while DSM/SCM is running.
priorityThe DSM/SCM servers can consume a lot of CPU time to perform few tasks. Set
the priority on which the DSM/SCM Pathway servers and other processes must
___
run. The priority must be below the priority of your production applications such
that the DSM/SCM servers do not slow down your production applications. The
default priority of DSM/SCM servers is 50.
INITENV automatically runs STARTSCM and VERIFYI as its last step to verify the DSM/SCM system
environment configuration. DSM/SCM must be running for the verification procedure.
NOTE: Initialization activities like INITENV, STARTSCM, STOPSCM, and IPM6031 are more
non super ID tolerable.
Task 2: Configure the Host Database
NonStop Software Essentials and ZPHIHMI are used to perform routine maintenance on the host
database. Only host systems contain a host database:
• For a target system, proceed to “Task 3: Configure the Target Database” (page 53).
• For a host system, check the defaults for the host or target system information in the host
database. As needed, update the configuration for aspects of DSM/SCM operations such as
user security, file transfer, and scheduling options.
1. Set the DSM/SCM user ID. See “Setting the DSM/SCM User ID” (page 53).
2. Add a planner ID or change the tasks a planner can perform on this system. See “Setting
Security for Planners” (page 54).
