Verify Windows Service Packs
NOTE: As of J06.13/H06.24, HP no longer tests OSM NSC tools on operating systems before
Windows Server 2003.
Verify that Windows Service Pack 1 is installed on your Windows Server 2008 console or Windows
Service Pack 2 is installed on your Windows Server 2003 console:
For Windows Server 2008
• Right-click Computer on the Windows desktop and then Select Properties to display the system
properties window. The operating system version and service pack information displays on
the first screen.
NOTE: HP recommends that you acquire and install Windows Server 2008 R2, Service
Pack 1 onto your Windows Server 2008 NSCs as well as other Microsoft patches. As a best
practice, you should keep your NSCs current with Microsoft patches.
For Windows Server 2003
1. Right-click My Computer on the Windows desktop and then select Properties to display the
System Properties window.
2. The General tab displays the operating system version and service pack information.
For installation instructions, see “Installing and Updating Windows Components” (page 18).
Verify Internet Explorer 7.0
NOTE: You can install either Internet Explorer 7.0 or Internet Explorer 8.0 on the system console.
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Select Help > About Internet Explorer to display version information.
NOTE: If you are upgrading to Internet Explorer 7.0 from Internet Explorer 6.0, you must have
a compatible version of OSM server on each system managed by the console.
• For G-series, you must have T0682 G07 ABM or later or T0682 G07 ABJ or later.
• For H-series, you must have T0682 H02 AAZ or later; however, ABE or later is recommended
for maximum compatibility with the Java Runtime Environment used by OSM server.
• All J-series SUTs contain a version of OSM server that supports IE7 or IE8.
If Internet Explorer is not installed on your system console, see either “Installing Internet Explorer
7.0” (page 20) or “Installing Internet Explorer 8.0” (page 21).
