NonStop System Console Installer Guide

4 Installing Internet Explorer 8.0
NOTE:
The Internet Explorer 8.0 installer on the NSC DVD is for Windows Server 2003 system
consoles only. The Windows Server 2008 system console ships with Internet Explorer 8.0
pre-installed.
Internet Explorer 8 on Windows Server 2003 requires service pack 2 (SP2). If you are not
running SP2, you need to update the system console with it. SP2 is available in the Console
System Patches\Win2003 folder on the NSC DVD.
NOTE: In order to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8.0, you must have a compatible version of OSM
server on each system managed by the console.
For G-series, you must have T0682 G07 ACM or later.
For H-series and J-series, you must have T0682 H02 ACJ or later.
All J-series SUTs contain a version of OSM server that supports IE7 or IE8.
Follow this procedure if Internet Explorer 8.0 is not already installed on your system console.
Internet Explorer 8.0 is used by OSM browser-based applications (OSM Service Connection and
OSM Event Viewer).
1. Open the IE8.0 folder on the NSC DVD.
2. Double-click the IE8-WindowsServer2003-x86-ENU.exe.
3. In the Install Windows Internet Explorer Screen, select the I do not want to participate right
now radio button and click Next.
4. Read the license agreement and click I accept.
5. In the Get the latest updates screen, uncheck Install Updates and click Next.
6. A Progress box keeps you informed as components are installed. Click Restart Now once
installation is complete.
7. If the system console is connected to the Internet, run Windows Update from the tools menu
to get the latest updates of Internet Explorer 8.0.
