This chapter describes how to install the software products included on the HP Insight Control for
NonStop DVD that ships along with the NonStop System Console DVD, and includes the following
installation procedures:
Running HP Insight Control for NonStop Setup Wizard to install HP SIM and the
Windows-based SIM plug-ins.
Installing HP Insight Control Power Management on CMS other than a NonStop system console
(NSC).
Installing NonStop Software Essentials Linux Client on a qualified Linux CMS.
IMPORTANT: HP SIM must be installed before installing any SIM plug-ins. Before installing HP

HP SIM Installation Considerations and Prerequisites
The NonStop system console models that are supported for HP SIM installation are S7X-NSC6,
S7X-NSC6NM, S7X-NSCR1, and later. However, depending on your LAN environment and which
SIM plug-ins you intend to use, HP recommends installing HP SIM and SIM plug-ins on a separate
Central Management Server (CMS) instead of on NonStop system consoles. For more information,
see HP SIM for NonStop Manageability in the NonStop Technical Library.
For more information on installing and using HP SIM, see the appropriate version of HP Systems
Insight Manager Installation and Configuration for MS Windows. For this and other standard HP
SIM documentation, go to:
http://www.hp.com/go/insightfoundation-manuals and click the link for “HP Systems Insight
Manager (HP SIM) software.
HP SIM is a necessary pre-requisite before installing and using SIM plug-in products such as Insight
Remote Support Advanced, NonStop Cluster Essentials, NonStop Performance Essentials, NonStop
I/O Essentials, NonStop Software Essentials, or Insight Control Power Management.
For more information on installing and using those products either on your NonStop system console
or on a separate CMS, see HP SIM for NonStop Manageability, Insight Remote Support Advanced
for NonStop, and/or the Installation and Quick Start Guide for each of the NonStop Essentials
products.
IMPORTANT: If you plan to change the name of your NonStop system console, do so before
installing HP SIM. If you need to change the name after installing HP SIM or HP SIM plug-in products,
you must follow this sequence:
1. Uninstall any HP SIM plug-in products.
2. Uninstall HP SIM.
3. Change the system console name.
4. Using the HP Insight Control for NonStop Setup Wizard, reinstall HP SIM and HP SIM plug-in
products.
