Installing NSM/web
Installing NSM/web
Note that any Guardian user can install NSM/web. However, initially, only the super ID
(255,255) can start the NSM/web environment.
1. Extract Files
The T2806PAX file contains the NSM/web installation files and is located in the
ZOSSUTL directory. If the OSS option has not been selected in the Planner Interface,
run COPYOSS or PINSTALL, as described in the OSS Management and Operations
Guide, to install the required files in the OSS file system:
$SYSTEM ZOSSUTL 1> copyoss T2806pax
The NSM/web installation files are extracted and automatically placed in the directory
/usr/tandem/NSMweb. You can relocate them to any other directory.
User identification An NSM/web user must have a valid Guardian user name and
password for the system on which the user wants to use
NSM/web.
Firewalls NSM/web uses both HTTP and direct dynamic TCP/IP socket
connections. Because of the latter, you cannot use it through a
firewall.
CORBA NSM/web uses CORBA for applet communication to the
NonStop system. There is no impact on your client machine or
your NonStop system.
CORBA on the client machine is included in the Java plug-in,
and no special configuration is necessary. There are no
daemons to run.
NOTE: NonStop DOM, which is a customized version of
CORBA for NonStop systems, is included in the NSM/web
installation. The included components are a small subset of
NonStop DOM and are not usable for any other purpose. There
are no daemons to run. There is no impact on, or interaction
with, any other NonStop DOM installation on the NonStop
system.
Disk space Your NonStop system must have approximately 500 MB of
available disk space to install NSM/web.
Memory NSM/web has the same memory requirement as SQL/MX on a
NonStop system running G06.23 or a later RVU (minimum 1 GB
per processor).
Note. Do not install NSM/web over an existing instance of NSM/web. To reinstall NSM/web,
you must first delete the existing installation. Uninstalling NSM/web (T2806ABA Is Not
Installed) on page 2-9.
