Installation of the ODBC/MX Client

Components of the MX connectivity service

To fully install all components of connectivity service, you must install the following:

•

MXCS server components on a NonStop system.

•

ODBC/MX client interface on any Windows machine.

Installing the Client Components

The client components must be installed on each client workstation that needs access

to SQL/MX. Although you can download the installation file directly from the installation

subvolume, in large installations, it may be more efficient to download the installation

file to an internal web location for easier deployment to all client workstations. The

client installation includes the following:

Microsoft ODBC 3.5 core components

ODBC/MX driver components

MS Code Page translator

HTML Help core components

You can install the client components on the same workstation as NSM/web or on a

different workstation.

Installing and Running ODBC/MX version 2.0 Concurrently With

MXCS Version 1.8

You can install and run ODBC/MX version 2.0 concurrently with MXCS version 1.8

with the following restrictions:

•

A NonStop ODBC/MX version 1.8 client will not work with a NonStop MXCS

version 2.0 service, nor will a NonStop MXCS version 1.8 service work with a

NonStop ODBC/MX version 2.0 client.

•

You must create different client data sources to connect to different versions of an

MXCS server.
