OSS Subsystem Messages
OSS Subsystem Messages
The messages in this subsection are EMS messages issued by processes running
under the OSS subsystem ID. Such processes include:
The OSS EasySetup utilities, to report processing status using message 10
The OSS Monitor
An OSS name server
The OSS sockets local server
Processes running in the OSS environment; in particular, messages 5 through 12
are used by:
°
Network services servers such as the inetd process (see message 8)
°
The OSS shell when the logger command is used
°
Applications running in the OSS environment that call the syslog() function
This guide documents the basic message format for messages 5 through 12, but it
documents actual message text only for HP programs that use this feature; site-written
OSS applications can also use the syslog() function.
