Abstract
This guide describes how to manage and operate the HP NonStop™ operating system
Open System Services (OSS) environment.

Supported Release Version Updates (RVUs)
This guide supports G06.29 and all subsequent G-series RVUs and H06.06 and all
subsequent H-series RVUs until otherwise indicated by its replacement publication.

New and Changed Information
The product version for the OSS Monitor changed at the H06.05 RVU from T8622H01
to T8622H02.
The H06.06 and G06.29 RVUs add support for OSS files larger than 2 gigabytes.
The G06.29 RVU adds support for access control lists (ACLs) for OSS regular files,
directories, first-in first-out (FIFO) files, and bound AF_UNIX sockets in Version 3
filesets. Version 2 filesets continue to be supported, but Version 1 filesets are not
supported. ACLs are not supported for systems running H-series RVUs.
Changes made since the September 2005 edition of the manual are:

A discussion of OSS file sizes and underlying file formats was added to Relating
OSS Files, Filesets, and Disk Volumes on page 3-8.
•
Upgrading OSS Catalog Files on page 5-40 includes information about upgrading
to Version 3 catalog filesets, which support ACLs.
