SCF Command Summary for OSS NFS
The SCF commands you can use to configure and control the OSS NFS subsystem come in two
varieties: sensitive commands, which affect subsystem operation, and nonsensitive commands,
which do not. As described under “SCF Commands for OSS NFS Objects” (page 29), issued
commands normally incorporate the object type along with the verbs listed in this topic. Also, not
all commands apply to all objects (see Figure 3 (page 29)).
Sensitive Commands
Sensitive commands add or delete objects, start or stop objects, alter object attributes, reset statistics
counters, or perform some other function that can affect the status or operation of an object. Only
members of the super group can issue sensitive commands. To use ADD, ALTER, and DELETE
commands on USER, EXPORT, GROUP, and NETGROUP objects require super ID (255,255)
privileges.
The sensitive OSS NFS commands are:
Stops the operation of an object abruptlyABORT
Defines an object to the subsystemADD
Allows new remote mounts by NFS clientsALLOWOPENS
Alters the values of an object’s attributesALTER
Removes an object from the subsystemDELETE
Swaps the backup process with the primary process of the OSS NFS manager process
pair
PRIMARY
Starts an objectSTART
Returns the contents of an object’s statistics counters and resets the countersSTATS, RESET
Stops the operation of an object in an orderly way (without interrupting commands in
progress)
STOP
Prohibits new remote mounts by NFS clientsSTOPOPENS
Generates trace records for an objectTRACE
Nonsensitive Commands
Nonsensitive commands do not affect the operation or status of an object; they can be issued by
any user. The nonsensitive commands are:
Returns an object’s current attribute valuesINFO
Returns the process IDs of the openers of a process and remote mount informationLISTOPENS
Returns the names and types of various objectsNAMES
Returns the contents of an object's statistics countersSTATS
Returns an object’s status informationSTATUS
Returns the version banner of a processVERSION
Command Applicability Table
The SCF commands for OSS NFS are listed in Figure 3. The object types to which each command
applies are indicated by an X.
