OSS Fileset Attributes Related to OSS NFS
You can configure how an OSS fileset interacts with NFS clients by configuring these OSS fileset
attributes:
• Request timeout (NFSTIMEOUT attribute). The NFSTIMEOUT attribute specifies the number of
seconds that the OSS name server retains the results of nonretryable Network File System
(NFS) operations for the fileset.
• Cache (pool) size (NFSPOOL attribute). The NFSPOOL attribute specifies the number of
kilobytes that the OSS name server uses for buffers for nonretryable Network File System (NFS)
operations for the fileset.
• NFS permissions map (NFSPERMMAP attribute), for J06.09 and later J-series RVUs and H06.20
and later H-series RVUs only. The NFSPERMMAP attribute value specifies how the permissions
for an OSS object protected by optional access control list (ACL) entries are mapped to the
permissions (rwxrwxrwx) used by Network File System Version 2 (NFS V2) clients on open,
read, write, and directory search operations. Write permissions are always enforced on the
NonStop server using the actual standard OSS permissions or OSS ACL permissions (if present)
on the object. If you mount an OSS fileset that has files protected by optional OSS ACL entries,
you must use options that disable write buffering. See “OSS Fileset NFSPERMMAP Attribute”
(page 63).
• RESTRICTEDACCESS attribute, for J06.11 and later J-series RVUs and H06.22 and later
H-series RVUs only. The RESTRICTEDACCESS attribute specifies that files in this fileset are
protected from privileged access by the super ID. For restricted-access filesets, the super ID is
treated as a normal user: It has no special privileges unless the executable file started by the
super ID has the PRIVSETID file privilege. In this case, the process started by the super ID can
switch to another ID and then access files in restricted-access filesets as that ID. For more
information, see “NFS Clients, Restricted-Access Filesets, and File Privileges” (page 61).
• SEEPPROTECTED attribute for object-type filesets, for J06.15 and later J-series RVUs and
H06.26 and later H-series RVUs. The SEEPPROTECTED attribute specifies that files in this fileset
are SEEP-protected. Consulting with SEEP happens only if the value is set to ON. The default
value is OFF. For more information, see “OSS Fileset SEEPPROTECTED Attribute” (page 64)
For more information about these attributes, see the Open System Services Management and
Operations Guide.
