To configure a new OSS NFS subsystem (assuming Open System Services, the port mapper, and
the NFS QIO monitor are already running):
1. Run the OSS NFS manager process with the PURGEDB option set to TRUE. For more information,
see “Running the OSS NFS Manager Process”.
2. Use SCF to add the required LAN, SERVER, USER, and EXPORT objects. You can optionally
add GROUP and NETGROUP objects.
3. Issue SCF START commands to start LAN and SERVER objects.
4. Start PCNFSD. For more information, see “Starting PCNFSD” (page 49).
Running the OSS NFS Manager Process
The OSS NFS manager process is created by issuing the following TACL RUN command. It is
strongly recommended that you create the OSS NFS manager process as a process pair.
RUN [ \system.]$SYSTEM.ZOSSNFS.NFSMGR
[ / run-option [ , run-option ]... / ]
[ param [ , param ]... ]
run-option
is a valid TACL run option, as described in the TACL Reference Manual. The significant run
options for the OSS NFS manager process are:
CPU primary-cpu
specifies the primary processor where the OSS NFS manager process is to run.
primary-cpu is an integer in the range 0 through 15. If this run option is omitted and
CMON is not running, the process runs in the same processor as the initiating TACL process.
IN filename
specifies the input file for the OSS NFS manager process. For more information, see the
note under TERM term-file.
NAME process-name
specifies the process name. It is recommended that you use $ZNFS, which is a reserved
name for the OSS NFS manager process. If process-name value is not supplied for
NAME, a unique value is created.
NOWAIT
specifies that the initiating TACL process does not wait while the OSS NFS manager process
runs but instead returns a command-input prompt after sending the start-up message to the
