Open System Services NFS Management and Operations Guide

Figure 7 Recommended Troubleshooting Flow
Client
If a client cannot communicate with OSS NFS on the system:
1. Run a network application (RPCINFO, FTP, PING, TELNET, and so forth) to test whether the
client can communicate with other clients.
If it cannot communicate with other clients, check these components on the client:
Network configuration files
Physical connections to the network
If the client can communicate with other clients but the problem still exists, proceed to
step 2.
2. Check whether the client can communicate with other OSS NFS servers:
If it cannot communicate with other OSS NFS servers, check the client’s NFS configuration.
If the client can communicate with other OSS NFS servers, check EMS if the problem still
exists.
SLSA or TLAM Subsystem
To check the SLSA subsystem (systems running RVUs other than D-series RVUs):
Check the Expand subsystem.
Check the wide area network (WAN) subsystem.
If either of these subsystems is running, the SLSA subsystem should also be running. If the
SLSA subsystem is not running, see the LAN Configuration and Management Manual.
To check the TLAM subsystem (systems running D-series RVUs):
Check the Expand network.
Check the Multilan subsystem.
If either of these subsystems is running, the TLAM subsystem should also be running. If
the TLAM subsystem is not running, see the TLAM Configuration and Management Manual.
