the pathname and directory structure should be examined to ensure that the name is correct (that
is, that all pathname components exist).
NFS2 Error 5
I/O error. An I/O error occurred during the requested operation or the
requested operation is not supported
Cause
There are several possible causes for this error:
An I/O error occurred during the requested operation.
The requested operation is not supported. For example, this error is returned if an attempt
is made to create a link to a filename, or if an attempt is made to add a file and the filename
is improperly qualified.
An attempt to delete a file or directory by using the OSS NFS subsystem failed because a
Guardian process had the file open.
An attempt was made to copy an executable file that corresponds to a running OSS Process.
Effect
Attempted operation fails.
Recovery
The recommended action depends on the cause of the error:
If an I/O error occurred, follow the recommended recovery procedure for the returned
file-system error, as described in the Guardian Procedure Errors and Messages Manual.
If the operation is not supported, corrective action is application-dependent.
If a delete operation failed because a Guardian process had the file open, retry the operation
after a reasonable period of time.
If the copy operation on an executable file running as an OSS Process fails, stop the OSS
Process corresponding to the executable file and try to copy the file again.
NFS2 Error 6
No such device or address. An I/O operation was attempted to a server
that was inaccessible.
Cause
An error occurred on an operation requiring I/O to a server. Either the root server had not been
started or an attempt was made to access a fileset that was inaccessible due to processor or
network failure.
Effect
Attempted operation fails.
Recovery
If the root server has not been started, start the root server. Otherwise, follow the recommended
recovery procedure for the file-system error, as described in the Guardian Procedure Errors and
Messages Manual.
NFS2 Error 13
Access permission denied. The caller does not have the access permission
necessary to perform the requested operation.
Cause
An attempt was made to read, write, or execute (search) a file, but the current access permissions
of that file caused the attempted operation to be denied.
