Open System Services Shell and Utilities Reference Manual (G06.25+, H06.03+)

User Commands (d - f) eld(1)
If an unqualied lename and an output le is being created when the -alf ag is
used, eld saves the le in the directory where lename1 is located.
If the -temp_o ag is not used and eld nishes creation of a new temporary le
but cannot remove an existing le with the same name as the specied output le,
eld leaves the temporary le in the same directory as the output le and gives it a
unique lename beginning with the letters ZLD.
-temp_r filename15
Tells eld to save its private registry update work with the specied le name until
it has successfully rewritten the nal le.
If an unqualied lename is used, eld saves the le in the directory where
lename10 is located.
If the -temp_r ag is not used and eld nishes creation of a new temporary le
but cannot remove an existing le with the same name as the specied registry
le, eld leaves the temporary le in the same directory as the output le and gives
it a unique lename beginning with the letters ZLD.
-u symbol_name4
Tells eld to add symbol_name4 as an undened symbol. This causes eld to search
for this symbol in any archive libraries that are specied on the command line or |
in an obey le.
-ul Creates a user library. Specify this ag when linking modules to create a DLL as
a native user library.
When you specify the -ul ag, the exported symbols are those described as
exported by the -export_all ag, unless you also use the -export_not or
-hidden_symbol ag.
-unres_symbols { error | ignore | warn }
Tells eld what action to take when a needed symbol cannot be resolved:
error Issue an error message.
This is the default action. The -error_unresolved ag is recog-
nized as a synonym for this specication.
ignore Ignore the missing symbol reference.
warn Issue a warning message.
The -warn_unresolved ag is recognized as a synonym for this
specication.
Other ag specications override these ags. If you specify more than one of
these ags in the command line or an obey le, eld displays an inconsistent usage
error message.
-update_code Tells eld to update relocation sites in the code segment when the -alf ag is also
used.
-update_registry filename16
Tells eld to update the -range entry in the private DLL registry identied as
lename16 with the address range for the le specied as lename10.
If no -range entry is found, a range entry is appended to the registry le content.
If neither the -check_registry nor -update_registry ag is specied, eld does not
use a private DLL registry.
