8.7.4.3 Conﬁguring a Time Provider on a DTS Server

You should conﬁgure one of the DTS servers in the cell with a provider of the accurate

time. You can conﬁgure two types of time providers: a null time provider and a NTP

time provider.

To conﬁgure a DTS server as a time provider, perform the following steps:

1. Type 4 on the DTS Conﬁguration Menu and press <RETURN>.

The dce_conﬁg script displays The DTS Time Provider Menu.

2. Your next action depends on the kind of time provider you are conﬁguring.

a. To conﬁgure the server as a null time provider, type 1 and press

<RETURN>.

The dce_conﬁg script conﬁgures the server and returns DTS Conﬁguration

Menu.

b. To conﬁgure the server as an NTP time provider, type 2 and press

<RETURN>.

dce_conﬁg prompts:

Enter the hostname where the NTP server is running:

Enter the full pathname to the host and press <RETURN>.

The dce_conﬁg script conﬁgures the time provider and returns the DTS

Conﬁguration Menu.

8.8 Conﬁguring Additional Servers

Using the dce_conﬁg script, you can conﬁgure the following additional servers:

• Additional DTS servers

• DFS servers
