Conﬁguring DCE

Type the name and press <RETURN>. You can enter any arbitrary name.

The name is used by dce_conﬁg to store cell proﬁle information.

b. Type n to not conﬁgure the machine with multiple LAN capabilities and

press <RETURN>.

The dce_conﬁg script displays the following message:

S:****** This node is now a CDS client

and then the following prompt:

Should this machine be configured as a DTS Clerk, DTS Local Server,

or DTS Global Server? (Default is DTS Clerk)

(clerk, local, global, none)

5. At this point you can type any of the following entries:

• clerk to conﬁgure a DTS Clerk

• local to conﬁgure a DTS Local server

• global to conﬁgure a DTS Local server

• none to not conﬁgure any DTS server on the machine

If you choose to conﬁgure a DTS server, dce_conﬁg displays messages as it

starts the appropriate DTS daemons. Then, dce_conﬁg completes the

conﬁguration and returns the DCE Conﬁguration Menu.

8.10 Conﬁguring DFS Clients

To conﬁgure a DFS client machine, perform the following steps:

1. At the DCE Conﬁguration Menu, type 4 and press <RETURN>.

The dce_conﬁg script prompts:

Enter Cell Administrator’s principal name: (cell_admin)

2. Type the name of the principal who was deﬁned to be the initial privileged user

of the registry database during the conﬁguration of the master Security server

and press <RETURN>.

The dce_conﬁg script prompts:

Enter password:

3. Type the password for the initial privileged user’s account and press

<RETURN>. Note that this password is not displayed as you type it.

The dce_conﬁg script loads the DFS kernel extensions if any must be loaded

and displays the following messages:
