Tandem Implementation Notes. Since the IUT does not have its own UA (and since
“origination” is defined as the ability of generating the message), we consider the “origination”
as the ability of our P7 protocol (implemented for MS) in supporting any RUA regarding the
message submission.
We say an element of service is supported for origination if that element that is submitted to
MS by any RUA is supported by the MS and furthermore if that element of service can be
correctly mapped to a P3 element and eventually to a P1 element of service. (Table 3/X411 on
page 282 of the Blue book shows the message submission arguments that can be submitted to
MTS. For Tandem OSI/MHS, this submission is originated by RUA and gets to MTS via MS.)
The information included in this PICS describes the support provided for messages upon
Origination and Reception. In addition, all PDU parameters are maintained intact upon relay,
or are downgraded according to the 1988-to-1984 downgrading rules defined in the 1988
standard.
