About This Manual
The Tandem OSI PICS Manual is a reference document describing the conformance of
Tandem OSI-related products to generally accepted standards published by ISO
(International Organization for Standardization), CCITT (International Telegraph and
Telephone Consultative Committee), ITU, and the like. The formal description of each
Tandem product, called a PICS (protocol implementation conformance statement),
strictly follows the format specified in the applicable standard.
Who Should Read This Manual?
This manual is written for those who need to know specific details of how a given
Tandem product implements an OSI standard. Readers can include potential customers,
existing customers, Tandem pre-sales and post-sales personnel, Tandem in-house
software development personnel, and third-party developers. For more detailed
information on Tandem OSI-related products, see the list of manuals for each product,
with brief descriptions of each manual, in Appendix A, Tandem Manuals for
OSI-Related Products.
To use this manual, you should already be familiar with the standard you are
referencing.
