Tandem Manuals for OSI-Related
Products
This appendix lists and briefly describes the manuals available for the following Tandem
OSI-related products:
•
Tandem LAN Access Method (TLAM)
•
Tandem X.25 Access Method (X25AM)
•
Tandem OSI/Transport Services (OSI/TS)
•
Tandem OSI/Application Services (OSI/AS)
•
Tandem OSI/File Transfer, Access and Management (Tandem FTAM)
•
Tandem OSI/Message Handling System (OSI/MHS)
For each OSI-related product, each manual in the manual set is briefly described,
followed by an illustration of the type of information contained in each manual.
Figure 1-1
on page 1-5 shows the relationships of these Tandem OSI-related products to
each other and to the OSI Reference Model.
Manuals for TLAM (Tandem LAN Access Method)
Tandem LAN Access Method implements the IEEE 802.2 Logical Link Control (LLC)
local area network (LAN) standard, providing a uniform interface between upper-layer
protocol products and the physical LAN medium. In addition to 802.2 type 1
connectionless service, TLAM supports Ethernet and IEEE 802.3 protocols. Your
applications can use TLAM directly or through higher-level communications products,
such as OSI/AS and Tandem FTAM.
There are five manuals in the TLAM manual set, as follows:
•
Multilan/TLAM Programming Manual. This manual describes the programmatic
interfaces provided by the Tandem LAN Access Method (TLAM) for the application
programs that run on a Tandem host and interact with the workstations and other
devices on a LAN connected to the host. It summarizes the procedure calls and file-
system errors for the TLAM subsystem.
•
TLAM Configuration and Management Manual. This manual describes how to
install and manage a TLAM data communications subsystem.
•
SCF Reference Manual for TLAM. This manual describes the SCF commands and
attributes used to configure, control, modify, and inquire about the TLAM
subsystem.
•
Operator Messages Manual describes system messages and provides an explanation
of the cause, a discussion of the effect on the system, and suggestions for corrective
action.
