Manuals for OSI/AS (Tandem OSI/Application
Services)
Tandem OSI/AS provides the services of the OSI Session Layer, Presentation Layer, and
the ACSE component of the Application Layer, allowing Tandem applications to
communicate with other applications in a multivendor environment.
There are five manuals in the OSI/AS manual set, as follows:
Tandem OSI/AS Programming Manual. This manual describes the programmatic
interface provided by OSI/AS for application programs that run on a Tandem host
and communicate with remote Session Layer, Presentation Layer, and/or ACSE
users across an OSI network. It describes the procedure calls and file-system errors
for the OSI/AS subsystem.
Tandem OSI/AS Configuration and Management Manual. This manual describes
how to install, configure, and manage the OSI/AS subsystem, which includes how to
configure and manage the Session Layer up through ACSE in the Application Layer.
This manual also includes information on monitoring and adjusting the OSI/AS
subsystem to optimize performance, and on diagnosing and fixing problems.
Tandem OSI/AS and OSI/TS Supplement (Includes RFC-1006 Support). This
manual describes RFC-1006 support and other general changes to the Tandem
OSI/AS and OSI/TS manuals.
SCF Reference Manual for Tandem OSI/AS. This manual describes the SCF
commands and attributes used to configure, control, modify, and inquire about the
OSI/AS subsystem. It contains descriptions of SCF attributes and screen displays
and descriptions of OSI/AS-specific PTrace commands and screen displays.
Operator Messages Manual describes system messages and provides an explanation
of the cause, a discussion of the effect on the system, and suggestions for corrective
action.
Tandem OSI/AS Management Programming Manual. This manual describes the
DSM programmatic interfaces (SPI-format commands, responses, and event
messages) provided by OSI/AS for the management application programs that run
on a Tandem host and manage the OSI/AS subsystem. It includes a list and
description of command, response, and EMS tokens.
