Manuals for OSI/MHS (Tandem OSI/Message
Handling System)
Tandem OSI/MHS is a message handling system in conformance with the CCITT X.400
recommendation. It supports the exchange of messages among diverse applications,
such as electronic mail and electronic data interchange (EDI), across OSI networks.
There are eight manuals in the OSI/MHS manual set, as follows:
•
Tandem Message Handling Systems Orientation Guide describes common tasks
involved in building message handling systems with Tandem products. It also helps
you to find related information in other Tandem manuals and educational offerings.
•
Tandem OSI/MHS Gateway Programmatic Interface (GPI) Programming Guide.
This manual describes how to write application programs that transfer messages
between proprietary messaging systems and the X.400 network using the Tandem
GPI service. It describes how these clients interface to a Tandem MTA and transfer
messages directly to and from that MTA. It also describes how to assemble and
disassemble messages.
•
Tandem OSI/MHS Gateway Programmatic Interface (GPI) Reference Manual. This
is the companion manual to the Tandem OSI/MHS Gateway Programmatic Interface
(GPI) Programming Guide and provides reference information on the programmatic
interface provided by OSI/MHS for applications programs that run on a Tandem
host using the OSI/MHS GPI. It discusses class definitions, return codes, and
provides reference material for all procedure calls in the OSI/MHS GPI, including
descriptions of diagnostic and error messages.
•
Tandem OSI/MHS P7 Application Programmatic Interface (P7 API) Manual. This
manual describes how to write a local operations user agent that communicates
directly with any OSI/MHS message store without using the OSI services. This
manual contains both reference and user information.
•
Tandem OSI/MHS Configuration and Management Manual. This manual describes
how to plan, install, configure, manage, and run the OSI/MHS subsystem.
•
Tandem OSI/MHS Administrative Utility (AU) Manual describes how to install,
configure, and use the AU, a Tandem utility that allows users to obtain information
about messages, reports, or probes (communications sent by an originator to the
message transfer system (MTS) to test delivery of a message or report) in the form
of Protocol Data Units (PDUs).
•
SCF Reference Manual for Tandem OSI/MHS. This manual describes the SCF
commands and attributes used to configure, control, modify, and inquire about the
OSI/MHS subsystem. It contains descriptions of SCF attributes and screen displays
and descriptions of OSI/MHS-specific PTrace commands and screen displays.
•
Operator Messages Manual describes system messages and provides an explanation
of the cause, a discussion of the effect on the system, and suggestions for corrective
action.
•
Tandem OSI/MHS Management Programming Manual. This manual describes the
DSM programmatic interfaces (SPI-format commands, responses, and event
