Manuals for NonStop Directory Services (NSDS)
NSDS is the Tandem implementation of the CCITT X.500 Recommendations,
equivalent to the OSI standard for directory services. NSDS complies with the 1988
version of the standard and includes some features of the 1993 recommendation. There
are eight manuals in the NSDS manual set, as follows:
² Introduction to NonStop Directory Services (NSDS). This manual introduces NSDS,
the Tandem implementation of the CCITT X.500 Recommendations. The manual is
intended for all new and prospective users of NSDS.
² NSDS Viewer Manual. This manual describes the NSDS Viewer, a product that lets
you perform administrative tasks on an NSDS directory.
² NonStop Directory Services (NSDS) Programming Manual for XOM and XDS. This
manual describes the NSDS application programmatic interfaces (APIs). The
X/Open OSI-Abstract-Data-Manipulation (XOM) API is used to create, delete, and
access information objects; the X/Open Directory Service (XDS) API is used to
make directory service calls.
² NonStop Directory Services (NSDS) Scriptor Manual. This manual describes the
NSDS Scriptor, a utility that is part of NSDS. Scriptor lets you execute XDS
functions without writing an application program. Programmers and administrators
can use the Scriptor to experiment with the XDS functions, test new NSDS systems,
load and verify a directory, and perform both occasional and regular operations on
directory entries.
² Messaging-Based Directory Query (MDQ) Manual. The Messaging-Based
Directory Query (MDQ) example program gives X.400 users access to an X.500
directory using Tandem OSI/MHS and NSDS.
² NonStop Directory Services (NSDS) Configuration and Management Manual. This
manual describes how to plan, install, configure, and manage an NSDS subsystem.
² NonStop Directory Services (NSDS) Event Management Programming Manual.
This reference manual describes the event messages generated by NSDS.
² Operator Messages Supplement for NonStop Directory Services (NSDS) describes
the operator messages generated by NSDS.

each manual.
