OSI/AS and OSI/TS Supplement (Includes RFC-1006 Support)

2 RFC-1006 Subsystem
Configuration
107751 Tandem Computers Incorporated 2–1
This section describes how to configure your OSI/TS and OSI/AS subsystems
interactively, using SCF, when using RFC-1006.
The configuration information presented in this section is for the Tandem RFC-1006
implementation only. To configure OSI/TS or OSI/AS using TLAM or X25AM as the
NSP process, see the Tandem OSI/TS Manual or the Tandem OSI/AS Configuration and
Management Manual.
Complete configuration information for the OSI/AS and OSI/TS subsystems is
contained in the Tandem OSI/AS and OSI/TS manual set. See the list of related
manuals in the “About This Manual” section.
The following topics are included in this section:
Configuring TCP/IP and the underlying TLAM and X25AM subsystems
Configuring OSI/TS
Configuring OSI/AS
Caution Use the OSI/TS configuration information only if your applications run over OSI/TS directly; that is, if you
use OSI/TS but not OSI/AS.
If you use OSI/AS, always configure and manage the OSI/TS subsystem through the OSI/AS OSI
manager process, using OSI/AS commands.
For OSI/AS users, this practice ensures that all configuration changes are registered in the MIB and that
all status information requested reflects the actual current configuration. The very few exceptions to this
rule are noted, where appropriate, in the OSI/AS Configuration and Management Manual.
Note When using RFC-1006, configuration of the X25AM and TLAM subsystems is done through the TCP/IP
subsystem. If you have an existing OSI/AS or OSI/TS configuration file, and you are changing your
configuration to implement RFC-1006, the TLAM or X25AM attribute settings in the existing OSI
configuration will no longer be applicable when TCP/IP is the NSP.
It is recommended that you remove these configuration specifications (although, if you do not, they are
ignored). See the SCF Reference Manual for Tandem OSI/AS or the SCF Reference Manual for
Tandem OSI/TS to identify these attributes.
Configuring TCP/IP Tandem recommends that you configure the TCP/IP subsystem and the TLAM and
X25AM I/O processes before you begin to configure the Tandem OSI/AS or OSI/TS
subsystem.
You configure the Tandem TCP/IP subsystem and the underlying TLAM or X25AM
subsystems as described in the Tandem TCP/IP Configuration and Management Manual.
See this manual for information on configuring the TCP/IP subsystem and TLAM and
X25AM I/O processes.
